Ivan Pylypenko

Ivan Pylypenko
Ukraine

Ivan Pylypenko (b.1957) is an Ukraine artist who has an impressive academic
background. He has explored the world of fundamental and classical art
education in some of the best art institutions in Ukraine, UK and France. From
1974 to 1978, he studied in Kyiv College of Art and Design, and majored in oil
painting. From 1982 to 1988, he furthered his education and training in
Ukrainian Academy of Art under the supervision of Professor M. Storonzhenko,
who was Ukrainian National Art Prize Winner. In 1992, he went to UK and
Studied at the Fine Art Department of the Cheltenham and Gloucester College
of Higher Education (now under University of Gloucestershire). And in 2009,
he went to Paris International Art Centre in France for exchange visit. He is
now a Professor in the Ukraine National Academy of Fine Arts and
Architecture; the Chairman of Painting Department, Kyiv Union of Artists; and
honoured as Merited Artist of Ukraine.
Pylypenko has developed his own style in using different shades of light
colors after numerous experiments and exploration. He used to use colors
aggressively, but after he moved to a studio in Kyiv Pechersk Lavra Monastery,
he felt peace of mind thrust upon him and his style drastically changed. His
paintings now elicit tranquility, and he draws inspiration from nature and his
alone time. He believes that the state of mind while painting is more important
than the techniques of painting, and he wants to leave the audience a state of
peace and joy after viewing his works.
Pylypenko has exhibited his artworks in solo and group exhibitions in
many countries. His artworks are highly sought after and grace a museum
collection and private collections of serious art collectors and art investors in
Ukraine, USA, Norway, Great Britain, Canada, Denmark, Italy, Germany,
Israel and China.
